Effective Use of Ultracet
A two compound medicine used to treat short-term pain. The two compounds are tramadol the narcotic pain reliever and acetaminophen the non-narcotic pain reliever.
Taking Oral Ultracet
The medicine can be taken with or without food, but if you have nausea it is recommended that you take the medicine with a full stomach. This medicine is very much effective when taken the first time the sign of pain occurs. Taking two tablets every four hours will exceed the maximum recommended dosage and can harm to some people especially those who have kidney problems.
Dosage
Two tablets every four to six hours is the recommended dosage for pain reliever with a maximum of eight tablets per day of a maximum of five days.
If certain medical conditions exist you may ask your physician to provide you the right dosage. But for ultracet several factors are to be considered before a person is advised on how much medicine to take. The factors to consider are the severity of pain, your sensitivity towards the medicine, other prescription you are taking and some other conditions you are feeling. No one can adjust the amount of medicine you must take but your healthcare provider.
While taking ultracet it is safe to avoid other acetaminophen products unless you are being careful on the limit of your acetaminophen use to 4 grams per day only. Acetaminophen content in ultracet is 325 mg per tablet so taking more than 4 grams that is equal to 4000 mg can cause liver damage which can result in liver failure and is fatal.
Things to Remember
Many considerations must be accounted before taking the medicine and this include the following: The medication is taken by mouth because it is in a tablet form. It must be noted that it should be taken as frequently as every four to six hours depending on the level of pain. Be extra careful by not taking too much of the required dosage for it can lead to overdose symptoms or to poisoning which can cause death. The medicine should be taken on a need basis, meaning you just take it if you are suffering from pain. Withdrawal
Ones your body becomes accustomed with the medicine if it is quickly stopped or reduced withdrawal symptom may occur. One should remember that the medicine is good only for a short-term use so withdrawal of ultracet is very unlikely. The following are the signs of withdrawal of the medicine: Anxiety, sweating, insomnia, shivering, pain, nausea, pain, shakiness, goose bumps, hallucinations, panic attack and unusual sensations.
Withdrawal from the medicine maybe unpleasant but it is not dangerous. The best thing to do is to ask your doctor to reduce your prescription at a rate that helps minimize withdrawal symptoms.
